Job summary

GP Strategies Government Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Designer/Drafter for our Chatsworth aerospace team. This on-site, full-time role focuses on creating/revising 2D drawings and 3D models for pressure vessels, piping systems, tooling, and assemblies.

The ideal candidate will apply ASME codes, perform fatigue and reliability analyses, and collaborate across engineering, procurement, and manufacturing. Strong CAD skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution preferred.
• Engineering experience in aerospace, pressure systems, high-reliability manufacturing, or related fields.
• Strong expertise in ASME Pressure Vessel Code and Piping Code requirements; familiarity with nondestructive testing methods; hands-on AE testing preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Create/revise 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks for aerospace pressure vessels, piping systems, tooling, and assemblies.
• Conduct detailed engineering analysis per ASME codes and cycle life analysis (fatigue, fracture mechanics).
• Support nondestructive inspection methods and acoustic emission testing as needed.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, calculations, and presentations.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project; track milestones and critical paths.
• Support procurement, testing, and production in a shop environment; assist with assembly and testing.
