Job summary

Fiber Materials Inc. (FMI) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support high-temperature composite production, improving safety, quality, reliability, cost, and cycle time.

You will design and specify new equipment, perform root cause analysis, work with production and maintenance, apply Lean/Six Sigma, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and certification requirements. This role is based in Maine and involves hands-on work in a demanding aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and data-driven decision skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable in a hands-on production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, specify, and develop new equipment for future production systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis for failures and data-driven improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and improve equipment with Production and Maintenance using Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Apply tools such as PFMEA, GD&T, and design reviews.
  • Provide technical support for 7x24 manufacturing areas.
  • Prepare ECOs, manufacturing procedures, and production travelers.
  • Support non-conformance programs and preventive actions.
  • Provide reports or presentations to management and customers.
  • Ensure health and safety policies are followed.
  • Adhere to certification requirements in plant applications.
