Job summary

Ursa Major, based in Longmont, Colorado, seeks an Accountant to manage daily transactions, support the month-end close, and maintain general ledger integrity. The role focuses on GAAP compliance, accurate reconciliations, and cross-functional collaboration across departments to improve processes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 2+ years of GL experience, and proficiency with Odoo or similar ERP. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Experience in General Ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and GAAP.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a manufacturing/defense environment.

Responsibilities

• Own current and implement new month/year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare journal entries and ad hoc reports.
• Monitor and implement internal controls.
• Prepare PBC requests for audits.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure accurate financial data and drive process improvements.
• Prepare account reconciliations and cost accounting analysis.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventories; review financial data.
