Job summary

AeroTEC's Seattle Engineering Center is seeking an Aerospace Engineer specialized in stress analysis to support multiple projects in primary and secondary structures. The role involves independent judgment and collaboration across disciplines to meet stringent aerospace requirements.

The candidate will develop FEM models, analyze fuselage and wing components, and work with CAD data in a fast-paced team environment. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of structural analysis experience in primary/secondary structures (metallic and composite).
  • Familiar with fuselage and wing analysis and system installation.
  • Proficient with NASTRAN/PATRAN and FEMAP to run FEM simulations.
  • Proficient with CATIA V6/V5 and NX CAD to interrogate 3D/2D data.
  • Knowledge of FAR Part 23 and Part 25 standards and design criteria.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed analysis of primary & secondary airframe structures for new designs and major modifications.
  • Develop detailed Finite Element Models based on new and reverse engineering requirements.
  • Develop stress analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Coordinate with technical disciplines to ensure deliverables meet requirements.
  • Interrogate CAD models using a PDM system proficiently.
  • Onsite support to oversee modification implementation and flight test activities.
  • Provide MRB support.

Salary Range: $136,000.00 - $157,000.00 Salary/year

AeroTECs Engineering Services Division supports and provides comprehensive, full-service aerospace engineering services to customers in aircraft design and certification. The Engineering Services Department is responsible for providing engineering consulting services related to aircraft performance, similarity analysis, reviewing and supporting certification activities, determining test requirements, and planning and documenting testing to meet customer needs. The Engineering Services Department provides several areas of expertise in Flight Sciences, Electrical Systems, Mechanical Systems, Powerplant & FIFA, Air Systems, Cabin Safety, Structures and Liaison Engineering.

The Aerospace Engineer Stress Analysis, will have knowledge of both primary & secondary metallic/composite structure and be part of a growing team to support multiple projects: This role requires the significant exercise of independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
  • Perform detailed analysis of Primary & secondary Airframe Structures both new designs and major modifications (components/assemblies/systems), to ensure it meets structural engineering specifications.
  • Develop detailed Finite Element Models based on new and reverse engineering requirements.
  • Develop stress analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Communicate and coordinate with technical disciplines to ensure deliverables are on target and meet specified requirements.
  • Interrogate CAD models and use a PDM system proficiently.
  • Onsite support to oversee modification implementation and other flight test activities.
  • Provide Production MRB support.
QualificationsLevel Requirements (Minimum):
Education
  • B.S., in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in performing structural analysis in Primary and Secondary structure (metallic and momposite).
  • Knowledge in Fuselage and Wing analysis along with system installation.
  • Proficiency with NASTRAN/PATRAN and/or FEMAP toolsets to run FEM simulations.
  • Proficiency with CATIA V6 & V5 and/or NX CAD to interrogate both 3D and 2D data.
  • Knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the structural design.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with FAR Part 23 and Part 25 certification requirements and processes.
  • Ability to closely coordinate with manufacturing to support MRB activities.
