Job description

Description

Location: Lenexa, KS (On-site)

As an Electronics Technician, you’ll build and inspect the electronic and electromechanical assemblies that support GuideTech’s advanced avionics and autonomous aerospace systems. You’ll work from approved drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements to assemble printed circuit boards, cable harnesses, and related hardware with a high level of precision and consistency.

GuideTech is a subsidiary of Palladyne AI (NASDAQ: PDYN), a U.S.-based defense and industrial technology company that delivers embodied AI-powered collaborative autonomy solutions, advanced avionics, precision-manufactured components, UAVs, and advanced aerospace design services.

At GuideTech, you’ll contribute to technologies that support a diverse range of aerospace and defense platforms, including unmanned aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft, missiles, and other autonomous systems. You’ll work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams in a low-volume, high-mix environment where workmanship, documentation, and product traceability are essential.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy detailed hands-on work, take pride in producing high-quality assemblies, and value working as part of a collaborative team supporting meaningful aerospace and defense missions.

What You’ll Do
  • Assemble printed circuit boards, cable harnesses, electronic assemblies, and electromechanical products using approved work instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, label, route, and terminate wires and connectors according to engineering specifications.
  • Install mechanical hardware, fasteners, and electronic components using approved tools and assembly methods.
  • Perform in-process and final visual inspections to verify workmanship and assembly quality.
  • Perform assigned production acceptance tests, continuity checks, and other basic functional tests in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Complete production travelers, inspection records, labels, and other required manufacturing documentation accurately and thoroughly.
  • Identify and report nonconforming materials, workmanship concerns, damaged components, and documentation discrepancies.
  • Follow established electrostatic discharge (ESD), foreign object debris and damage (FOD), safety, and quality procedures.
  • Handle electronic components, materials, and finished products in a manner that prevents damage or contamination.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and contribute to production-process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production team members to resolve assembly or documentation concerns.
What Makes Someone Successful Here
  • You take pride in producing precise, reliable, and high-quality work.
  • You follow drawings, work instructions, and documented procedures carefully.
  • You pay close attention to small details and recognize when something does not meet workmanship requirements.
  • You communicate concerns promptly and clearly rather than allowing potential quality issues to continue.
  • You manage your time effectively while maintaining quality and traceability.
  • You work independently when needed while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • You adapt well to changing priorities in a low-volume, high-mix production environment.
  • You value integrity, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • You are motivated by building technology that supports meaningful aerospace and defense missions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience using common assembly hand tools, crimp tools, torque drivers, wire strippers, and soldering equipment.
  • Experience or familiarity with electronic assembly, cable assembly, wire routing, connector termination, or electromechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and basic technical documentation.
  • Basic computer skills for completing production documentation and accessing electronic work instructions.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to distinguish wire colors, component markings, and connector identifiers.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Understanding of workmanship, quality, traceability, safety, and proper handling of electronic components.
  • Ability to recognize workmanship defects or nonconforming conditions and report concerns promptly.
Experience in the following areas is preferred:
  • Two or more years of electronics assembly, cable assembly, or electromechanical manufacturing experience.
  • Printed circuit board assembly, precision soldering, crimping, cable-harness fabrication, and wire routing.
  • IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or familiarity.
  • ESD-controlled manufacturing environments and FOD prevention practices.
  • Visual inspection, continuity testing, production acceptance testing, or basic functional testing.
  • Production travelers, inspection records, and other manufacturing traceability documentation.
  • Aerospace, defense, medical-device, or another regulated manufacturing industry.
  • Low-volume, high-mix electronic manufacturing.
Benefits & Perks
  • Competitive salary
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Professional development opportunities
