Job summary

Anduril Industries seeks a Configuration Design Engineer for air dominance hardware. You will lead conceptual layout and sizing of next‑gen UAS and missile platforms, turning concepts into flight‑ready configurations, using NX and advanced surfacing.

You will perform rapid multi‑disciplinary trade studies, drive integration across subsystems, and deliver surface models for CFD/FEA and RF/IR analyses while addressing survivability and CG/stability concerns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in aerospace, mechanical or related field.
• 5+ years in conceptual or preliminary design of aircraft/ UAS or missiles.
• Strong 3D CAD modeling and advanced surfacing experience.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary trade studies (aero, propulsion, structures).
• Ability to operate in fast-paced prototyping or Skunk Works style environments.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead layout, sizing, and configuration design from concept to early design.
• Create parametric CAD models and high-fidelity surface lofts (OML/IML).
• Perform trade studies on engines, propulsion, planform, and layout.
• Manage keep-in/keep-out zones for avionics, fuel, and payloads.
• Provide clean surface models for CFD, FEA, and RF/IR evaluations.
• Incorporate survivability into early designs for RF/IR reduction.
• Estimate mass properties, CG, and stability margins.
• Collaborate with Chief Engineers and customers to translate requirements.
