Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Composites Technician on 2nd shift in Utah. The role focuses on manufacturing advanced composite components using hand layup, filament winding, and pre-preg processes to meet aerospace specs.

You will inspect parts, read blueprints, and support process improvements. Responsibilities include tooling prep, curing operations, and collaborating with engineering to ensure quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience using basic hand and power tools.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and instruments.
• Able to work with composite materials, chemicals, adhesives, solvents, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Builds advanced composite parts using hand layup and filament winding per work instructions and specs.
• Prepares tooling and materials for layup, including pre-preg placement and vacuum bagging.
• Performs tooling fabrication, secondary bonding, and related processes.
• Operates ply-cutting, hydraulic platen press, oven, autoclave, and curing equipment.
• Inspects parts for defects and performs in-process inspections per Quality requirements.
• Reads drawings and uses precision measuring tools.
• Maintains safe, clean work areas and supports continuous improvement.
• Provides technical guidance and on-the-job training.
