Job summary

Major Tool & Machine on the Indianapolis CNC floor seeks experienced machinists for second and third shifts. You will perform complex, close‑tolerance machining from setup through run, applying shop math, blueprint fluency, GD&T comprehension, and a strong eye for quality.

You will interpret engineering drawings, select holding devices, set speeds/feeds, verify metrics with precision gauges, and complete first‑article inspections for multi‑piece runs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of trade school, vocational training, or apprenticeship.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on CNC machining experience.
• Proficiency with general machining practices, shop math, precision measurement, blueprint reading, and GD&T.
• Part and tool probing experience.
• High‑speed machining exposure preferred (16–27k RPM).
• Siemens 840D control familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, blueprints, specs to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequences, and setups.
• Select, align, secure workholding; improvise tooling as needed.
• Establish speeds/feeds, depths, and angles; monitor tool performance and surface finish.
• Observe machine behavior; adjust controls to maintain tolerances.
• Verify features to print and router using metrology; document results and first‑article inspection.
• Maintain machine and work area cleanliness each shift.
