Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Palmdale, CA or San Diego, CA is seeking an Aeronautical Engineer (or Principal) to lead multi-project initiatives from concept through delivery. You will own schedules, coordinate with engineering and manufacturing, and present progress to customers and leadership.

You will work with budgets, risks, and data from multiple sources to drive informed decisions while maintaining clear communication across teams and stakeholders. Requires security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and 2 years related experience or Master's degree with 0 years related experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance within a reasonable time
  • Experience with project management tools and willingness to learn new tools
  • Understanding of the Engineering Life Cycle process
  • Experience with data-driven decision making, budget management, organization, and clear communication across multiple levels

Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Aeronautical Engineer or Principal Aeronautical Engineer – Subsystems Project Engineer to our team in Palmdale, CA or San Diego, CA!

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and execution of multiple projects from concept through delivery.

This position can be filled at either the Aeronautical Engineer level or the Principal Aeronautical Engineer level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications For Aeronautical Engineer
  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline and 2 years of related experience OR a Masters Degree in a relevant STEM discipline with 0 years of related experience
  • Experience with project management tools and willingness and motivation to learn new tools
  • Understanding of the Engineering Life cycle process
  • Experience with data-driven decision making, budget management, organization, and clear communication across multiple levels of the organization
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline and 5 years of related experience; OR a Masters Degree in a relevant STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and 1 year of related experience.
  • Experience with project management tools and willingness and motivation to learn new tools
  • Understanding of the Engineering Life cycle process
  • Experience with data-driven decision making, budget management, organization, and clear communication across multiple levels of the organization
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications For Both Levels
  • Applicable or previous program access (SAP)
  • Electrical or Aerospace Engineering Degree
  • Experience integrating mechanical and electrical subsystems on complex products or systems.
  • Familiarity with additional tools (e.g., MS Project, Confluence, Jira, etc.)

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
