Job summary

Aero Automatic Sprinkler Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit, seeks a Safety Specialist to develop, audit, and enforce our safety programs across field projects. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct inspections, and coordinate with operations to ensure OSHA/MSHA compliance.

The role is based in Phoenix with travel to sites as needed. Ideal candidates are pursuing a related degree in occupational safety, with strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, and a willingness to stop

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
• Working knowledge of computers with Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Willingness to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of the SSSP to everyone including subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the craft daily to encourage buy-in and support safety ownership.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to policies and plans.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field based on trends.
• Encourage, support, advise staff to execute the SSSP.
• Assist with maintaining project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and policy.
• Assist with first aid and relationships with EMS and clinics.
• Assist with incident investigations and implement effective solutions.
• Complete daily hazard inspections and help with corrective actions.
• Review work plans and provide safety training on policies and client requirements.

District Overview

Aero Automatic Sprinkler Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit, is one of the largest fire sprinkler contractors in the Southwest. Founded in 1985 in Phoenix, AZ, Aero offers a variety of services including design, 3-D modeling, installation and more. We are committed to all aspects of the fire protection business: sprinklers, service inspection and testing, and fire alarm. Aero handles all sizes of work from service calls and inspections to full installations.

Location

This position is based out of our office in Phoenix, Arizona. More information will be provided throughout the hiring process.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of the SSSP to everyone including subcontractors
• Collaborate with the craft every day in the field to encourage buy-in of our safety program and to support craft ownership of the safety program

• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field every day based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work
• Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staff and craft employees to execute the SSSP
• Assist with maintaining project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and in compliance with our policies including accident/injury files
• Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with emergency medical services and clinics
• Assist with incident investigations, and implementation of effective solution
• Complete a daily documented hazard inspection and assist operations, craft, and subcontractors with implementation of corrective actions
• Review work plans, work packs, and detailed work plans prior to the start of work
• Assist and provide safety training on policies, procedures, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client specific requirements

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study is preferred

• Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

Base Compensation: $76,960/yr – $88,920/yr
