Job summary

GM Motorsports is seeking a CFD Surface Design Engineer to lead development and automation of complex CAD assemblies for high-fidelity aerodynamic simulations. You will enable rapid design iteration in the Aerodynamics Group and work with CFD engineers to improve meshing, model prep, and consistency across full-vehicle studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of CAD surfacing, aerodynamic development, CFD support, or a related engineering field.
• Working proficiency in Siemens NX, CATIA, or equivalent CAD surfacing software for CFD workflows.
• Understanding how CAD geometry affects meshing, solver stability, convergence, and aerodynamic accuracy including G0/G1/G2 continuity.
• Ability to create and maintain watertight, simulation-ready geometry and clean up imported/legacy CAD models.
• Familiarity with surface-interrogation methods, parametric modeling, design intent, and CAD automation concepts.
• Identify and resolve routine geometry/topology/model-integrity issues while keeping CAD data organized.
• Strong communication and collaboration with CAD, CFD, aerodynamics, and vehicle engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain clean, simulation-ready CAD geometry for CFD workflows across platforms.
• Build and refine surface models with appropriate continuity for aerodynamic analysis.
• Organize and manage CAD assemblies with clear structure and version control.
• Incorporate parametric design and automation to enable rapid updates in CFD workflows.
• Reconstruct and refine legacy or scanned geometry to meet CFD standards.
• Optimize models for usability and reuse across studies.
• Resolve geometry issues impacting mesh quality, stability, or convergence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate design intent into efficient models.
