Job summary

UniversalServices is seeking a dedicated Aerial Lineman for construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead telecommunications systems in Minnesota. You will install strand, coax, and fiber, operate bucket trucks, climb poles, and ensure safety and quality on every task.

You will read construction prints, prepare sites, and collaborate with foremen and warehouse staff to keep projects on track while following OSHA and company safety standards. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement and current DOT medical card may be required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in aerial or telecom construction.
  • Experience operating bucket trucks and aerial lift equipment.
  • Proficiency in pole climbing and fall arrest systems.
  • Ability to read construction prints, maps, and technical documents.
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 50 feet.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and repair aerial telecommunications lines and systems.
  • Install strand, coaxial, and fiber optic cable per project specifications.
  • Operate bucket trucks and aerial lift equipment safely.
  • Climb poles using approved equipment and fall protection.
  • String and secure aerial cable using lashers and rigging tools.
  • Install anchors, guy wires, brackets, and support structures.
  • Read and interpret construction prints, maps, and daily work packets.
  • Prepare and maintain safe job sites with signage and traffic control devices.
  • Operate hand and power tools and perform daily vehicle inspections.
  • Assist with cable pulling and transition work for underground conduits.
  • Conduct job site cleanup and restoration after completion.
  • Coordinate with foremen, project managers, and warehouse staff for materials/workflow.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures; participate in safety meetings.
