Job summary

FiOptix is seeking an Aerial Drop Technician in Scranton, PA. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing aerial drop lines from distribution points to customer premises. You will work at heights, operate bucket trucks, and perform fiber/Coax splicing and testing while following safety regulations and documenting work progress.

The position requires climbing poles, handling concrete tools, and coordinating with supervisors and customers to ensure timely, high-quality installations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year experience in telecommunications construction preferred.
• Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to 40+ feet.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install aerial drop lines from pole to premise per construction prints and specs.
• Secure cable to existing aerial infrastructure.
• Climb utility poles or operate bucket trucks to complete installations.
• Perform basic splicing, terminations, and testing of fiber, telephone lines and/or coax drops.
• Ensure proper grounding and bonding per codes and standards.
• Conduct site assessments and identify hazards or access issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work, including photos and as-builts.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and customers.
• Follow all safety protocols, including Cal/OSHA and company policies.
• Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in good condition.
• Inspect and test CATV, coax, telephone lines and/or fiber.
• Drive and operate line vehicles and station them for the work.
