We’re looking for someone who can develop and execute communications strategies across multiple channels, exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive or high-profile communications, and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. If you're a collaborative project manager who can balance competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and create communications that engage stakeholders, policymakers, and grassroots audiences, we encourage you to apply!

The Advocacy Communications Manager provides strategic leadership for The League's advocacy communications efforts, translating complex legislative, regulatory, and political issues into clear, compelling messages that educate, engage, and mobilize credit union leaders, staff, members, and other key stakeholders.

What You'll Take Ownership Of:
  • Leading the strategic communications approach for advocacy initiatives, establishing priorities, messaging, timelines, and tactics across legislative, regulatory, political, and grassroots efforts.
  • Serving as a strategic communications advisor to advocacy leadership and senior executives, developing clear, compelling messaging that advances The League's priorities and strengthens the credit union movement's voice.
  • Leading public relations and external communications efforts related to advocacy priorities, including media relations, statements, announcements, opinion content, and other opportunities to elevate The League's advocacy work.
  • Translating complex legislative, regulatory, and political issues into accessible communications that inform, engage, and mobilize credit union leaders, staff, members, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
  • Overseeing advocacy communications for major initiatives, events, grassroots campaigns, and emerging issues, ensuring timely, coordinated, and effective communications.
  • Developing and overseeing strategic advocacy resources, including talking points, toolkits, fact sheets, presentations, and other materials that support engagement and advocacy.
  • Identifying opportunities to showcase advocacy successes, policy accomplishments, and grassroots impact through compelling stories and communications.
  • Monitoring communications performance and audience engagement, using insights and data to continuously strengthen advocacy communications strategies.
  • Supporting visual communications for advocacy initiatives, including infographics, social graphics, presentations, and other visual assets.
What You'll Bring to the Role:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, Governmental Affairs, Marketing, or a related field.
  2. Two or more years of professional experience in public relations, strategic communications, advocacy communications, government affairs communications, or a related field.
  3. Experience with digital communications platforms and channels, including email marketing, websites, social media, and other communications tools.
  4. Familiarity with the credit union movement and the legislative and regulatory environment affecting credit unions is preferred.
  5. Experience developing or directing visual communications, such as infographics, presentations, or other graphic materials, is a plus but not required.
Work Schedule:

The Advocacy Communications Manager will be required to travel up to 20% across The League's footprint-including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia. Overnight travel is likely and a valid driver's license is required.
