About The Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an SAP Senior Software Engineer for SAP ABAP / UI5 / Fiori Full Stack Developer based in Midland, MI, and Houston, TX. This role requires strong hands‑on development experience, with the successful candidate actively designing, developing, and supporting end‑to‑end SAP solutions to meet business needs and requirements. This position goes beyond advisory responsibilities and demands direct involvement in solution architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support, while contributing to Dow’s long‑term SAP and digital transformation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• The SAP Senior Software Engineer role requires strong hands‑on expertise in ABAP and SAP Fiori/UI5 development, with active involvement in coding, solution design, and implementation using Object‑Oriented ABAP, SAP Fiori/UI5, and the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP).
• The role expects direct involvement in Design, build, test, and support simple to complex SAP development across core business processes (Record-to-Report, Order-to-Cash, Source-to-Pay, etc.)
• Participate across the full development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and post‑go‑live support.
• Collaborate with functional and technical teams to map business requirements Validate there is no standard SAP solutions before designing scalable custom solutions for identified gaps.
• Translate high‑level business requirements into detailed technical designs, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with Dow’s IT strategy and architecture standards.
• Select appropriate integration patterns, understand integration costs, and design solutions aligned with company standards, including preparation of architecture diagrams and detailed technical documentation.
• Perform advanced debugging and performance optimization, resolving complex technical and integration issues.
• Provide accurate development estimates and contribute to delivery planning using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
• Leverage AI‑powered developer tools (e.g., coding, test automation, documentation generation) to increase development productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
• Share learnings, best practices, and usage patterns of AI developer tools with the broader development team to drive adoption and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior developers, reinforcing coding standards, modern ABAP/SAP UI5 Fiori/RAP practices, and effective use of AI tools.
• Stay current with S/4HANA, RAP, and emerging SAP BTP technologies, proactively sharing knowledge with peers and IT leadership.
• Communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders on status, risks, issues, and outcomes, ensuring transparency and alignment.
• Ensure all solutions meet business requirements, comply with Dow architecture standards, and support long‑term system vision and productivity.

Technical Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on expertise in Object‑Oriented ABAP development, SAP Fiori/UI5, and RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model), with active involvement in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise SAP solutions.
• Extensive experience with ABAP development technologies, including OData Services, SAP Workflow, IDocs, Adobe Forms, Smart Forms, Reports, BADIs, User Exits, Enhancements, Program Routines, Substitutions, and other SAP extensibility frameworks.
• Experience with modern SAP development technologies such as Web Dynpro ABAP, Floorplan Manager (FPM), Business Objects, CDS Views, and other S/4HANA‑enabled development capabilities is highly desirable.
• Strong SAP Fiori/UI5 development experience, including the design and delivery of modern, intuitive, and user‑centric SAP applications, extensions, and mobile‑enabled solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with SAP S/4HANA, including custom code remediation, performance optimization, and the ability to guide development teams through S/4HANA transformation and upgrade initiatives.
• Exposure to SAP integration and cloud technologies, including SAP PI/PO, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), API Management (APIM), and SAP Integration Suite, is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical, integration, and production support issues across SAP landscapes while collaborating effectively with business, functional, and technical teams.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Math, Science, Engineering or related discipline or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant or 8 years of experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working as an SAP Full Stack Developer. 8 or more years preferred.
• Prior experience with at least 3 full lifecycle SAP implementation projects.
• Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently.
• Ability to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
