Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking an EH&S Advisor to provide health and safety guidance to project teams, audit EH&S programs, and drive continuous improvement across sites.

You will collaborate with line organizations to implement corrective actions and enhance workplace safety performance. The role requires a minimum of 3 years in EH&S within construction, a related degree, and strong data analytics and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of EH&S experience in construction
• Degree in Occupational Safety or environmental field preferred
• Experience conducting safety activities (audits, orientations)

Responsibilities

• Promote, educate, and reinforce Company Safety Policies and Standards
• Track and report safety-related statistics
• Complete EH&S field inspections, observations, and incident investigations
• Provide EHS support to project sites as needed
• Support field activities and safety programs
• Develop and implement data collection & analytics for EHS
• Interpret data and generate ongoing reports
• Identify trends in complex data and improve safety processes
• Provide technical EHS support and troubleshoot issues
• Assist with new EHS software implementations
• Generate and analyze EHS reports for improvement
• Write and edit EHS content for platforms
• Research EHS topics for accuracy
• Perform other duties assigned by the EHS Director

What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the EH&S Director, the EH&S Advisor will be responsible for providing health and safety advice and assistance to their respective project team. The EH&S Advisor will audit the Project EH&S Programs and work with the line organization to develop corrective actions with the goal of continuously improving health and safety in the workplace.

What You'll Do Here:

• Promote, educate, and reinforce Company Safety Policies and Regulatory Standards
• Track and report safety-related statistics
• Complete and document EH&S field inspections, observations, and incident investigation reports
• Provide EHS support to the Jackson shop and, when requested, also Savannah River
• Support field activities
• Help manage safety consortiums, ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, and others
• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Provide technical support to EHS system users and troubleshoot issues
• Assist with the implementation of new EHS software solutions
• Generate and analyze EHS reports to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Write, edit, and proofread EHS content for various platforms, including websites, newsletters, and training materials
• Research EHS topics to ensure accuracy and relevance of content
• Perform other duties assigned by the EHS Director

What You Bring to the Team:

• Minimum 3 years of EH&S experience within the construction industry
• Degree in Occupational Safety or an environmental-related field (preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of experience conducting safety-related activities, including but not limited to:

Safety-Related Activities

• Construction Safety Orientation
• Safety and IH Audits
• Implementing countermeasures for systemic problems that did not minimize risk or that led to illness/injuries

Preferred

• A team player who accepts and can manage change regularly
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of applicable consensus standards, including NFPA 70E/CSA Z462
• A recognized, independent third-party safety certification. Examples: CSP/ASP, SMS, CHST, STSC, CSHO, CSHT, CRSP, etc.
• Experience developing or improving a construction safety management system or process
• Experience developing a site audit program
