We firmly believe that words and actions matter, which is why all individuals are to be treated equally and with respect.A Carpenter ensures the highest standard of park operational repair and maintenance by meeting all required guidelines.Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager/Director, Carpenters are responsible for the modification, repair, and refurbishment of all wooden structures found within the park location.We are currently looking for a:Adventureland Park - CarpenterRoles & Responsibilities:Perform carpentry-related repair and maintenance throughout the parkConstruct, modify, and repair structural systems of buildings/ attractionsPerform preventive maintenance through thorough inspections of all wooden structures, including, but not limited to, buildings, interior finishing work, and roofingInspect wooden roller coaster tracks and attractions daily; assist with required repairs and properly document all hazards that are identifiedConduct daily safety inspections throughout the parkErect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and other building materials using various hand and power toolsSelect building materials and supplies needed to complete specific projectsSafely and effectively operate power tools and heavy equipment normally associated with the tradeAssemble framework and utilize tools for repairs.Construct, modify, repair structural systems of buildings/ attractionsUtilize basic measurement skills as they pertain to carpentry work (e.g. for blueprints, elevations, and/or identifying materials needed)Fabricate and install signs, stairs, furniture, walls, and structures as assignedInstall structures and fixtures such as windows, framing, flooring and trimUtilize daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance logs to track work that has been performed on each amusement park ride and attractionPromptly notify maintenance and/or park leadership of any escalated maintenance issues or safety hazardsMaintain all storage areas, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, organized, and secure mannerSafely operate company owned trucks, forklifts, and other equipmentAll other duties and projects assigned by Maintenance or Park leadershipEducation and Experience:High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; Equivalent work experience will also be considered2-Year Vocational, Trade School, or Associate’s degree preferred but not required.2+ years of previous maintenance or carpentry work experience highly desiredPrevious work experience performing maintenance or carpentry on roller coasters, rides, or other attractions preferredLanguage: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.Requirements:Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor LawsAbility to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, open to closeMust have reliable transportation to and from work for your scheduled shiftMust possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving recordMust be safety conscious and adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.Ability to interact with other team members, guests, contractors, and suppliers in a positive, professional mannerAbility to comprehend blueprints and schematic diagrams and follow the manufacturers’ guidelines for each piece of equipment or attractionGeneral working knowledge of carpentry practices and techniques is desiredMust be able to operate trade equipment and make repairs while following all company policies and proceduresAbility to utilize common power and hand tools in a safe and effective mannerAbility to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a team as well as independentlyPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods of time during the dayAbility to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shouldersAbility to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 75 pounds or moreAbility to climb roller coastersAbility to work in all non-conventional areas of the property, including in confined spaces or above ground-level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manliftsAbility to consistently use hands to grasp, control, move objects/toolsAbility to see differences between colors and brightnessAbility to see details of objects that are more than a few feet awayWorking Conditions:Frequent interaction with all outdoor and indoor areas of the parkFrequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditionsSubject to working at significant heights, reaching over 100 feet above ground levelSubject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, vibrations, machinery, motorized equipment, and vehiclesSubject to the handling of and exposure to dust, dirt, grease, oils, chemicals, detergents, and cleanersTeam member benefits:Team member benefits:Working at Adventureland Park is about making people happy!
