Job summary

Marquette Mountain is seeking an Adventure Program Coordinator to manage day-to-day mountaineer program operations and create new offerings. This role focuses on ski school programs, summer youth programs, and assisting the Adventure Manager in expanding adventures while ensuring a high level guest experience.

The position requires leadership, safety focus, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment across day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and instructing/coaching experience.
  • Proficient in required software, including Google Suite.
  • Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of operating basic office equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Familiarity with kayaks, bikes, alpine skis and snowboards.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and structures offerings to best leverage demand, terrain, rental equipment and staffing.
  • Supervises mountaineer personnel, classes/lessons and participating guests.
  • Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships and guest service.
  • Interviews and hires seasonal personnel; coordinates training.
  • Schedules and assigns staff according to guest needs; supports development.
  • Upholds high levels of guest safety on varied terrain and weather conditions.
  • Oversees registration and program operations; ensures timely paperwork.
  • Assists in operational responsibilities of programs including setup and upkeep.

This is a full time position must have availability for day, afternoon, evenings and weekends

Job Purpose:

The Adventure Program Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day mountaineer program operations as well creating new offerings. This role primarily manages ski school programs, summer youth programs, and assists the Adventure Manager in overseeing and expanding adventure programs. The Adventure Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a high level guest experience and doing so in a cost effective manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Builds and structures offerings to best leverage demand, terrain, rental equipment and staffing
  • Supervises mountaineer personnel, classes/lessons and participating guests
  • Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships
  • Understands business principles and the need for meticulous organizational skills
  • Works with guests of all ages and ability levels
  • Is fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
  • Has excellent guest service and communicative skills
  • Can work comfortably in a diverse and fast paced team environment
  • Interview and hire all seasonal personnel
  • Coordinate and conduct training sessions for both new and returning personnel, and support them throughout each season
  • Schedules and assigns staff according to anticipated guest needs
  • Encourages the professional development of employees
  • Upholds the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain, weather conditions, and potentially high-pressure environments
  • Ensures new hire paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner
  • Performs exit evaluations and rehire recommendations
  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions
  • Has a clean and welcoming appearance
  • Is able to safely navigate uneven and slippery terrain
  • Clearly and accurately provide instructions to staff and students at varying levels of skill, both physically and verbally
  • When working with children:
  • Supervising children in class at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardian
  • Assisting in operational responsibilities of programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate areas of learning, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required; College degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and instructing/coaching experience.
  • Proficient in required software, including but not limited to Google Suite.

  • Capable of operating basic office equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage time, resources, and technology.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding office, employee, and company information.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct when addressing guest and employee complaints, adhering to company policy and procedures.
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout operational seasons.
  • Familiarity with computers, smartphones, tablets, kayaks, bikes, alpine skis, and snowboards is essential.
Preferred Experience:
  • SafeSport, ACA, PSIA, or AASI certification preferred
  • Previous experience working with youth in outdoor settings
  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring
  • 3 yrs. previous ski/snowboard instructor experience
  • Knowledge of local area/resort
  • Caring for and/or working with children ages 3+
  • Outdoor facilitation background
Physical and mental demands:

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50lbs and carry 50 yards
  • Must be able to work outside in temperatures below 32 degrees and up to 90 degrees for (8) hours

  • Must have advanced skiing/snowboarding ability
  • Must have Kayak experience or willingness to learn
