Job summary

City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation is seeking an Outdoor Adventure Leader to supervise and mentor youth and community members in rock climbing, archery, SUP, and other outdoor activities. This hands-on role emphasizes safety, skill development, Leave No Trace ethics, environmental stewardship, and teamwork while supporting school programs, summer camps, field trips, and large community events.

Do you love working outdoors, connecting with students and community members, and sharing your passion for adventure? Join our Outdoor Recreation team as an Adventure Leader! Adventure Leaders help introduce youth and community members to outdoor recreation activities while building confidence, developing technical skills, and fostering a strong sense of environmental stewardship. Adventure leaders may assist with school programs, summer camps, community events, after-school programs, field trips, large-scale public events, and other outdoor recreation opportunities. This position provides hands‑on instruction and supervision in a variety of outdoor activities, including but not limited to:

• Rock climbing and rappelling
• Knot tying and climbing safety
• Archery
• Stand‑up paddleboarding (SUP)
• Caving
• Leave No Trace principles and outdoor ethics
• Environmental stewardship and responsible recreation
