Job summary

Partners Worldwide seeks a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to unify fundraising, marketing, and volunteer engagement under one strategy. You will lead a high-performing team, engage major donors, and collaborate with the CEO and board to grow resources for global programs.

The role is strategic and hands-on, with responsibility for storytelling, donor experiences, and organizational development across a global network. Willingness to travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, advancement, or related fields.
• Demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising and campaign leadership.
• Experience working with senior leaders and boards in fundraising and relationship development.
• Experience overseeing or partnering closely with marketing/communications and engagement functions.
• Experience in global or cross-cultural contexts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a unified strategy across fundraising, marketing and communications, and volunteer engagement.
• Personally manage key donor and partner relationships; engage major gifts, campaigns and grants.
• Collaborate with CEO and board on strategic engagement and giving opportunities.
• Oversee storytelling, donor communications, and engagement across audiences.
• Manage systems and processes supporting fundraising effectiveness (CRM, reporting, forecasting).
• Travel up to 40% and work in a global, time-sensitive environment.
