Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking an on-site trailer technician in Fontana, CA to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on fleet trailers. You will inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and service equipment, and complete FMCSA-required safety inspections and documentation.

You must read work orders and manuals, replace defective components, and verify performance against specs. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work nights/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED or equivalent
• Must be 17+ years old
• Minimum 1 year experience or trade school in related field
• Able to use hand tools and test equipment
• Must own tools
• Knowledge of general repairs and PM criteria
• Capable of adapting to changing technology
• Strong mechanical ability with electronics interest
• Lift up to 70 lbs and work in awkward positions
• CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads
• FMCSA Drug/Alcohol Clearinghouse compliance for CDL holders
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter, organized, strong work ethic
• Willing to work any shift including nights/weekends
• Able to work independently or in a team
• Capable of handling time-critical, high-volume environments
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on trailers
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and service equipment
• Perform safety inspections and maintain FMCSA compliance documentation
• Interpret work orders and manuals
• Repair or replace defective parts and systems
• Test equipment after repairs to ensure compliance with specs
• Maintain regular attendance
• Other duties as assigned due to business needs
