Qualifications

• Technical degree or diploma in Surgical Technology required.
• Associates degree in Surgical Technology preferred.
• 3–5 years of Surgery Tech experience required.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred; TS-C beneficial.
• Ability to communicate with physicians and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform scrub duties to assist physician during complex surgical procedures.
• Arrange instruments and supplies in proper position and hand to surgeon as needed.
• Assist circulator with room preparation per physician preference card.
• Assist with surgical counts per policy and procedure guidelines.
• Prepare sutures and dressings for surgeon use; maintain sterile field.
• Provide input to management regarding training and competency validation.
• Maintain competency to scrub in multiple surgical specialties; participate in department activities.
