Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Inc. in Miami seeks an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to support the CC206738 CARL - Extenders program.

The APRN will assess patients, collaborate with interventional teams, and contribute to groin management across cardiology, radiology, neuro-radiology and electrophysiology settings. The ideal candidate holds an Florida APRN license with ACLS/CPR, MSN or higher, and at least 1 year of APRN experience, preferably in interventional care.

Qualifications

• Florida APRN license required, ACLS and CPR certifications.
• MSN or higher degree required.
• Minimum 1 year APRN experience preferred, particularly in interventional settings.

Responsibilities

• Advocates for patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Completes comprehensive medical histories and physical exams.
• Manages groin/CV lab care across modalities (interventional cardiology, radiology, neuro-radiology, electrophysiology).
• Orders medications and ensures post-interventional anticoagulation where appropriate.
• Participates in department performance improvement and communicates with the director on improvements.

Job Description Summary: Position Responsibilities

• Procures service and serves as an advocate on behalf of patients, families and the hospital for scarce resources throughout the continuum of care.
• Facilitates and provides necessary patient and family education.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of groin management on all 4 modalities in the cardiovascular lab: A) Interventional Cardiology B) Interventional Radiology C) Interventional Neuro radiology D) Interventional Electrophysiology
• Interviews patients and completes a full comprehensive medical history and physical examination.
• Identifies areas needing improvement in groin management and identifies medication orders post interventions.
• Actively participates in department's performance and improvement program.
• Provides feedback to unit director on an ongoing basis, i.e. concern, improvements, changes, etc.
• Reviews and ensures post interventional anticoagulation medication orders are placed and given during the patients stay in the hospital.
• Monitors post procedure incision site (groin, radial, popliteal) for bleed or hematoma during the patients stay in the hospital.
• Monitor component that may lead to bleeding complications (loss of pulse, hypertension BP, drop in H/H, platelets and evaluate patient alertness AAAx3) Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests (U/S and CT and lab work) to rule out complications.
• Reports results to interventionalists for further evaluation.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic medications (ASA and anti-platelets) if required and notifies interventionalists.
• Secures on patient discharge that anti-platelets prescription is filled by our pharmacy or called in for pick up on outside pharmacy.
• Attends and actively participates in departmental meetings to educate our receiving floors, in-service programs, provides positive suggestions and input.
• Monitors and collects monthly complication report on patients that have received: A) More than 2 units of transfused blood, Develop: B) Pseudoaneurysm C) Av fistula D) Retroperitoneal bleed E) Hematoma, Treated: F) Thrombin Injection G) US Guide Compression H) Covert Stent Placement I) Surgery.
• All complications to be discussed and reviewed with medical director and panel to address an action plan for future prevention.
• Report access site complications on all modalities in CVL to Performance Improvement (PI) on a quarterly basis.
• Promotes surveillance, prevention, and control of infection by using and teaching hygienic practices.

Qualifications

• License/Registration/Certification State of Florida Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License; ACLS Certification; CPR certification required.
• Education Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Master of Science in Nursing.
• Experience At least 1 year experience as an APRN preferred
