Job summary

AdventHealth in Celebration, Florida, is seeking an experienced RN to join the CVICU team. You will perform comprehensive patient assessments, design and execute care plans, administer medications, and educate families.

The role emphasizes teamwork on a high-acuity unit with 24/7 intensivist support, and offers sign-on and relocation options for eligible candidates. The position requires ACLS/BLS, RN licensure in Florida, and CVICU or cardiothoracic experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Florida with ACLS and BLS certification.
• Experience in cardiothoracic or CVICU settings preferred.
• Ability to scrub cardiothoracic procedures and work in a fast-paced unit.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments across physical, emotional, and social domains.

• Administer meds and treatments per orders, ensuring safety and protocol adherence.
• Monitor responses and adjust care plans; document progress accurately.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, plans, and self-care.

Job Description:

Unit Highlights:

The CVICU is a 20 bed unit that cares for post-surgical open heart procedures, vascular and thoracic surgeries. We have 24/7 intensivist support within the department. Our typical ratio post surgical open heart and advanced devices are 1:1 until stabilized, otherwise, traditional 2:1 patient/RN ratio is the normal. We work closely with our CVOR, cathlab and PCU units to best provide care to our cardiovascular service line patients. We are a dynamic, multicultural team that enjoys working together and team work is key to our successes. We also partner with our Neuro ICU and Medical ICU within out campus.

Schedule:

Full-time, 36 hours per week

Shift:

Nights, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am (with weekend and holiday rotation)

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to gather data on patients' physical, emotional, and social health status.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with specific goals and interventions based on assessment data.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
• Monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary and documenting progress.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to empower them in managing their health.
• Facilitate effective hand-off communication by clearly and concisely transferring patient information during shift changes or transitions between departments.
