Job summary

Island Doctor in Georgia is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to manage health problems and coordinate care for patients in accordance with state and federal rules and nursing standards. Working hours include Saturday 9a-9p and Sunday 12:30p-7p, with duties spanning history taking, diagnostics, prescribing, and care coordination.

The role requires NP licensure, specialty certification, and strong computer skills; experience is encouraged.

Qualifications

• APRN licensure currently active in Georgia.
• NP certification in a specialty area is required or preferred.
• Graduated from an accredited NP program and an accredited school of nursing.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with office software.

Responsibilities

• Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex perioperative patients.
• Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate.
• Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified conditions.
• Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing.
• Work with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical care services within the standard of care for primary care patients.
• Analyze reports, test results, and medical records to diagnose conditions and propose treatment options.
• Provide lifestyle and diet recommendations to improve health.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with health information privacy laws.
• Record complete, timely medical records.
• Assist with training and compliance actions.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program

Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure

Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area

Position Summary

The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for Island Doctors patients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care.

Working hours: Saturday 9a-9p and Sunday 12:30p-7p

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
• Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate and called for.
• Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
• Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication/treatment.
• Work with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical care services within the standard of care for primary care patients.
• Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose condition of patients and propose treatment options.
• Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
• Record complete, timely and legible medical records.
• Assist with training and compliance actions.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Minimum Education Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
• Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Training/Experience

• At least one year of experience in a similar position is desired.
