Job summary

Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc (CVG) in the United States seeks an Advanced Quality Technician Specialist to operate and program CMM equipment, support Quality, Engineering and Production, and improve inspection processes in a 150-employee assembly environment.

You will calibrate, maintain, and analyze metrology data while ensuring compliance with ISO/IATF standards and customer requirements. Strong GD&T knowledge and CMM software experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in metrology or engineering tech.
• 3+ years in precision measurement, CMM operation, or quality inspection.
• Experience with GD&T and blueprint reading preferred.
• Prior experience with CMM software (PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, calibrate and program CMM equipment to support quality inspections.
• Develop and modify CMM programs using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent.
• Perform first-article, in-process and final inspections per GD&T and drawings.
• Maintain gauges, fixtures, calibration records, and metrology docs.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Production Supervisors on issues and root-cause analysis.
• Generate inspection reports and data for PPAP, audits, and customer requirements.
• Suggest improvements to inspection methods and fixtures.
• Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specs, and ISO/IATF.

Position Summary

The Advanced Quality Technician Specialist is responsible for advanced operation, programming, and maintenance of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and precision metrology equipment. This salaried role supports Quality, Engineering, and Production by ensuring accurate dimensional analysis, maintaining measurement systems, and improving inspection processes for a 150-employee assembly manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• CMM Operation - Perform daily setup, calibration, and operation of CMM equipment to support production and quality inspections.
• CMM Programming - Develop, modify, and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent software.
• Dimensional Inspection - Conduct first-article, in-process, and final inspections; interpret GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Metrology System Maintenance - Maintain gauges, fixtures, calibration records, and metrology documentation.
• Quality & Engineering Support - Partner with Quality Engineers and Production Supervisors to resolve dimensional issues and support root‑cause analysis.
• Data Reporting - Generate inspection reports, capability studies, and measurement data for PPAP, audits, and customer requirements.
• Continuous Improvement - Recommend improvements to inspection methods, fixtures, and measurement processes.
• Compliance - Ensure all measurement activities meet internal standards, customer specifications, and ISO/IATF requirements.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Metrology, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent technical experience considered.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in precision measurement, CMM operation, or quality inspection in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with GD&T, blueprint reading, and measurement systems analysis preferred.
• Prior experience with PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or similar CMM software strongly preferred.

Skills

• Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with CMM programming and metrology tools.
