Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Acute Neurosurgical Services team at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis. The ANS APP collaborates with neurosurgeons to sustain continuity of care across trauma, critical care, spine surgery, neurovascular and tumor populations.

Night shifts (three 12-hour nights) per week are required. Ideal candidates have an APRN or PA license in Indiana, a master’s degree, NCCPA or AAPA certification, and BLS.

Formación

  • Current Indiana APRN/PA license.
  • Master's degree in nursing or Physician Assistant program with national certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • 2+ years of neurosurgery or ED/ICU experience preferred.
  • Ability to work night shifts.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and capable Advanced Practice Provider to join the Acute Neurosurgical Services (ANS) team based at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis. The ANS APP is a key member of the GCBS ANS team managing multiple patient populations including trauma, critical care, elective spine surgery, neurovascular, and tumor populations. The ANS APP collaborates with the Neurosurgeons to maintain continuity of care and facilitate progression of the patient through the complex health system. The ANS APP also assists with collaboration with other teams within the hospital setting in a multi-disciplinary fashion. The ANS APP is a vital part of the ANS team managing patients with neurosurgical conditions. This position is full-time, working approximately three 12 hour night shifts (7p-7a) per week.

Job Duties

  • At Goodman Campbell, we function as a team.
  • Communication and collaborative planning are vital for smooth day to day operations.
  • Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.
  • Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients.
  • Perform procedures as appropriate under the direction of a physician.
  • First responder in the Emergency Department to provide patient care intervention under the direction of physician.
  • Available for inpatient consults under the direction of a physician.
  • Available for urgent calls regarding all neurosurgical patients in the Emergency Department, ICU, and other inpatient departments.
  • Keep accurate progress notes.
  • Communicates appropriately with physicians regarding any patient care issues.
  • Provide patient and patient family education.
  • Functions independently in an organized and time conscious manner.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Displays flexibility as it relates to staffing needs of the acute service.
  • Responsible for professional growth and development.
  • Complies with professional, regulatory, governmental and departmental standards.
  • Contributes to the professional development of others by sharing knowledge and skills.

Educational and Experience Required

Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing with National Certification as an Adult, Acute Care, or Family Nurse Practitioner or Masters from an accredited Physician Assistant Program and national certification from NCCPA or AAPA

Licensure and Certification: Requires current unlimited Indiana State license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant

  • Current BLS Certification

Preferred Experience: Previous experience working in neurosurgery strongly preferred. More than 2 years of previous experience as an RN working within an emergency department, trauma unit, critical care, or other inpatient setting will also be considered.

Physical Demands
