Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing clinical assessments.
• Diagnose and treat psychiatric conditions within APRN scope.
• Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications as clinically appropriate.
• Administer and monitor injectable medications, including LAIs.
• Assess medication effectiveness, side effects, adherence, and interactions.
• Order and review laboratory testing and other diagnostic services.
• Provide medication education to consumers and families or caregivers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and providers.

Position Summary

Spring Leaf Solutions is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide psychiatric and clinical services across the organization's MHRS, ACT, and SUD programs. The APRN will conduct psychiatric evaluations, provide medication management and administration, including injectable medications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to support the behavioral and physical health needs of consumers.

Required Licensure & Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the District of Columbia.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required for APRN practice in the District.
• Graduate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner or advanced practice nursing program.
• Current national board certification appropriate to the scope of practice; Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification strongly preferred.
• Current DEA registration and DC controlled substance registration, if prescribing controlled substances within the scope of the position.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Ability to satisfy applicable credentialing, background screening, and payer enrollment requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing psychiatric or behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
• Experience working within community-based behavioral health, ACT, MHRS, or SUD programs.
• Familiarity with DC Department of Behavioral Health (DBH), Medicaid, and behavioral health documentation requirements.
• Experience administering long-acting injectable (LAI) medications.
• Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary clinical teams and community-based settings.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing clinical assessments.
• Diagnose and treat psychiatric conditions within the APRN's authorized scope of practice.
• Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications as clinically appropriate.
• Administer and monitor injectable medications, including long-acting injectable psychiatric medications.
• Assess medication effectiveness, side effects, adherence, and potential drug interactions.
• Order and review laboratory testing and other diagnostic services as clinically indicated.
• Provide medication education to consumers and, when appropriate, families or caregivers.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, clinical managers, nurses, case managers, recovery support staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Provide timely clinical assessment and intervention when urgent consumer needs or clinical emergencies arise during scheduled working hours and coordinate escalation to emergency services when a higher level of care is required.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with agency, DBH, Medicaid, payer, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary case consultation as clinically appropriate.
• Maintain consumer confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable professional and ethical standards.

Work Setting & Schedule

This position supports consumers across Spring Leaf Solutions' MHRS, ACT, and SUD service lines and may involve services delivered in the office, community, or other approved care settings based on consumer and program needs.

The position does not require routine on-call coverage. However, the APRN must be able to appropriately assess and respond to urgent clinical situations that arise while providing scheduled services, including determining when emergency intervention or a higher level of care is necessary.

The APRN is expected to maintain all required licenses, certifications, credentialing, and continuing education throughout employment or engagement with Spring Leaf Solutions. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, professionalism, responsiveness, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
