Job summary

Hillcrest Family Services MHC in Dubuque, IA seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced direct and indirect client care. Responsibilities include case review, medication management evaluations, diagnosing acute and chronic conditions, and documenting within 24 hours.

Requires NP program graduate with Iowa license and DEA, plus experience with severe mental illness and community-based or outpatient settings; strong communication and flexibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Clinical experience in mental health services, preferably in community-based or outpatient settings.
• Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards governing mental health practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing caseloads and organizational priorities.
• Must hold current DEA certification to prescribe medications and be licensed in Iowa.

Responsibilities

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner , for Hillcrest Family Services MHC in Dubuque, IA, the primary responsibilities include providing specialized and advanced direct and indirect client care. Addition, you will:

• Review all cases referred to by therapists and/or other medical practitioners
• Perform initial evaluations and follow-up care for medication management clients
• Formulate diagnosis(es) of acute and chronic disease
• Complete paperwork/dictation within 24 hours from service date
• Administer medications and other therapeutic means, necessary to implement treatment within the scope of licensure
• Provide education to patients and families around issues related to the patient's diagnosis, illness, and/or treatment
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

Experience:
