Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to perform comprehensive inpatient wound care assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans. The role involves treating approx. 12–18 patients per day in an outpatient/inpatient setting across multiple clinics in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in nursing or PA studies from an accredited program.
• Current Illinois license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Certification by ANCC or NCCPA.
• Two years of APP experience preferred; wound care background desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inpatient assessments of patients with wounds, ostomies, and incontinence.
• Develop and implement wound care treatment plans and order diagnostics, medications, dressings, and devices.
• Provide wound debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, biopsies, and other procedures as indicated.
• Document encounters in the EMR and communicate with the health care team.
• Participate in quality improvement and professional development.

Expected pay for this position is $60.39 - $68.10/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

• Ideally a candidate with wound care background or surgery background but open to training a candidate
• Will see approximately 12-18 patients a day
• Perform comprehensive inpatient assessments of patients with acute and chronic wounds, ostomies, and incontinence
• Develop and implement evidence-based wound care treatment plans, including ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, medications, dressings, and devices
• Provide wound debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, biopsies, and other procedures as indicated
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress and response to treatment
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound prevention, management, and self-care
• Document patient encounters and interventions in the electronic medical record
• Communicate effectively with other members of the health care team
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities
• Hyperbaric chamber experience preferred, training is available if needed.
• Outpatient wound care clinic with the possibility for inpatient wound care team coverage to cover PTO/time off

• Clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $55.20-63.65 hr
  • Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree or higher in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited program
• Current Illinois license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant
• 1-2 years experience in General Surgery or Wound Care strongly desired.
• Position will be located at multiple clinics.
• Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Minimum of two years of experience as an APP in primary care or a related field is preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
