Job summary

Duke Health Integrated Practice in Durham, NC is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Duke Vascular Surgery and Vein Center at Brier Creek. The role involves working with attending physicians to provide direct patient care, collect data, perform procedures, and coordinate lab studies and consultations.

The successful candidate will have PA or NP credentials, applicable licensure in North Carolina, BLS, and board certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required; must be licensed by NC Medical Board and board certified as a Physician Assistant (NCCPA) or Master’s degree for NP with RN licensure and board certification.
  • BLS certification required; NP must have RN licensure and NP practice approval.
  • DEA licensure required and credentialing with Duke Health.
  • Current NC licensure and board certification required for practice as PA or NP.

Responsibilities

  • Perform triage, physical exams, data collection, and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures in collaboration with attending physicians.
  • Order and schedule laboratory studies and imaging; coordinate care and document in EMR.
  • Prescribe interventions and medications; communicate patient information to the care team.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation of patient status, test results, and treatment responses.

Advanced Practice Provider – Duke Vascular Surgery and Vein Center at Brier Creek

Job Summary

We are seeking anAdvanced Practice Providerin ourDuke Vascular Surgery and Vein Center at Brier Creek,located inRaleigh, NC,to work in collaboration with attending physicians, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with attending physician(s), the NP/PA performs triage, physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies, diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care of patients, and provides direct patient care services.
  • Analyze clinical practice patterns so as to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
  • Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients’ condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education

  • Physician Assistants: Bachelor’s degree or higher required. Must be licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board, and be Board Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree or higher required. Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina and Approval to Practice by the Board of Nursing. Must be Board Certified from a national certifying board in the appropriate patient foci.

Certification

  • BLS Required.
  • RN-FA certification required for Nurse Practitioners

License

  • Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NP required.
  • Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Both: Must demonstrate and maintain credentialing and licensing requirements of the Private Diagnostic Clinic and Duke Health. The position requires the candidate to have current DEA licensure.

Experience

  • 1+ years of surgical or oncology APP experience strongly preferred.

Job Hours

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
