Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is hiring Advanced Practice Providers (PA/NP) for our Durham, NC locations. The APP cares for patients within training scope and approved agreements, collaborating with a team to ensure efficient flow and high patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities include comprehensive histories, orders for labs and imaging, emergency interventions, data interpretation, and patient education. Active license, DEA, and state certs required; ER/UC experience preferred.

Qualifications

• ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA Board Certified – (with 1 yr ER/UC experience preferred outside of clinical rotations)
• Active and current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of practice, DEA number, and state-controlled substance certification, as required
• Ability to multi-task and work independently
• Experience in primary and urgent care settings preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform complete, detailed health histories and develop comprehensive medical assessments
• Order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies as appropriate
• Institute emergency measures and stabilization for acute events
• Interpret patient data to determine status and treatment plans
• Provide healthcare instructions and guidance to patients and families
• Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) cares for our patients within the scope of training and approved the agreement, as outlined by their governing board. Works collaboratively with other providers and staff to ensure efficient patient flow and a high level of patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete, detailed, and accurate health histories, review patient records, develop comprehensive medical assessments, and order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies appropriate for complaint, race, sex, and physical condition of the patient
• Formulate medical and nursing diagnoses and institute therapy or referrals of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, and other resources of the community or physician
• Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, shock, hemorrhage, convulsions, poisoning, and allergic reactions
• Interpret and analyze patient data to determine patient status, patient management and treatment
• Provide instructions and guidance regarding health care and health care promotion to patients/family/ significant others
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
