Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC invites an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA/CNS) to join our Oncology team. The role combines evidence-based patient management, education and discharge planning within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or Doctoral degree in their APRN/PA/CNS track, licensure in DC, and active national certification. You will lead care plans, prescribe therapies, mentor students, and contribute to quality

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in the APRN/PA/CNS track and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required.
  • Active licensure in the practicing state(s).
  • National certification with governing body (e.g., ANCC, NCCPA, AANPCB) or CNS/PA/NP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and monitor patient status using evidence-based practice.
  • Develop and implement detailed plans of care.
  • Write orders, prescribe therapy, and provide home care instructions as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for NP, CNS, or PA students and staff.

They are responsible for providing evidenced-based care for the management of patients, including assessment, implementation and evaluation of a detailed plan of care, which incorporates diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The APP demonstrates competency in providing age-appropriate care to patients as defined by certification and training and provides family centered care to meet family needs, including psychological support, education and discharge planning in conjunction with other related disciplines.The APP initiates, participates and collaborates with divisional and organizational multi-disciplinary staff to provide and support evidence-based education, quality improvement and research. They participate in professional and organizational activities that contribute to improving patient care, the scientific knowledge base of advanced practice, program operation, and individual professional development. The APP provides leadership within their respective clinical area through participation in division projects and mentorship of others.
