Qualifications

  • Active APRN or PA license in Florida and/or Georgia
  • BCLS required at time of hire
  • ACLS preferred; PALS preferred
  • New orthopedic graduates must acquire a DEA within 90 days of hire
  • Master’s degree in PA training or NP required

Responsibilities

  • Performs or assists with high‑complexity procedures in various settings; call coverage may be required
  • Provides education and instruction; monitors devices and manages perioperative care
  • Conducts high‑level evaluation and triage with histories, exams, labs, and treatment decisions
  • Develops comprehensive health‑management plans with physicians, pharmacists, and other professionals
  • Contributes to program development, research activities, and quality‑improvement projects
  • Documents clinical information accurately in EMR and billing processes
  • Educates and counsels patients and families on health care and preventive care
  • Responds to consults, manages discharge planning, and schedules procedures
  • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and committees

Overview

An Advanced Practice Provider IV (APP IV) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. The clinical area includes inpatient, critical care, clinics, operating room, labor & delivery, and emergency department or other hospital‑based settings.

Responsibilities
  • Performs or assists with procedures of higher complexity in office, inpatient units, operating rooms, or emergency departments; may perform first‑assist functions in the operating room. Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs.
  • Provides education and instruction. Monitors or manages medical/invasive devices and their placement within scope of practice; manages care of pre‑/post‑operative and pre‑/post‑procedural patients.
  • Conducts high‑level evaluation and triage specific to specialty/subspecialty, including patient histories, physical examinations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, differential diagnoses, ordering ancillary studies, medical decision making, treatment, and stabilization.
  • Formulates comprehensive health‑management plans in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals, including progress notes, narrative discharge summaries, and consults. Facilitates patient participation in healthcare decisions.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, and expansion of programs and initiatives, including research activities and quality‑improvement projects. Participates in professional development opportunities and introduces innovation in practice where applicable.
  • Records pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record promptly and accurately, following compliance billing guidelines. Documents and closes open encounters, My Chart messages, and other EMR communications per institutional requirements.
  • Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance.
  • Responds to consults, handles discharge planning, and routinely schedules procedures.
  • Actively participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, working as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner license required or at time of hire.
  • Physician Assistant license required at time of hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at time of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred at time of hire.
  • PALS certification preferred at time of hire.
  • New graduates in orthopedics must acquire a DEA within 90 days of hire.
  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant training program required, or Master’s in Nurse Practitioner required.

Travel: Up to 25%.
