Job summary

The Cancer & Hematology Centers is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) to manage comprehensive medical care for inpatients and select outpatients under physician supervision.

The role requires Licensed PA/NP in Michigan, BLS certification, and inpatient experience; schedule includes inpatient weekends and outpatient days at Hurley and Genesys campuses. Join our compassionate team focused on cancer care and patient support.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Holds current BLS card for Health Professionals.
• Certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
• Licensed in the State of Michigan.
• Inpatient hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains comprehensive histories and physical examinations reflecting patient acuity and presenting complaints.
• Coordinates and delivers medical care in collaboration with attending physicians, including orders and interpretation of labs and imaging.
• Communicates with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary teams for continuity of care and patient outcomes.
• Acts as a patient advocate, provides education and referrals for optimal outcomes.
• Performs duties within scope of practice and supports team collaboration.

Job Description

Position Overview

Under physician supervision, the Advanced Practice Provider - Inpatient/Outpatient is responsible for the comprehensive medical management of assigned inpatients in the hospital setting. The mid level provider is expected to exercise prudent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and implementation of care and seek appropriate collaboration as necessary.

• This full-time role will be working inpatient every other weekend (days on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and 1 additional outpatient day. They will be working at Hurley and Genesys *

Desired/Required Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program

Experience

• Holds current BLS card for Health Professionals
• Credentialed per CHC policies and procedures
• Certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• Inpatient hospital experience preferred
• Licensed in the State of Michigan

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Obtains comprehensive histories and physical examinations that reflect the acuity and presenting complaint of the patient. This includes daily rounding, admission and discharges that include comprehensive progress notes that reflect the acuity and priority needs of patients.
• Coordinates and deliver comprehensive medical care, in collaboration with attending physicians, including, writing orders/prescriptions for standard medications, ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiographic studies, and seeking consultation as needed for optimal patient outcomes. This includes managing daily changes in patient status that requires more immediate resolutions.
• Communicates in a timely and effective manner with supervising physician(s) as needed for continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes. Maintains communication with interdisciplinary teams including office services, hospital support services as well as additional physician (and physician teams) that may be also caring for the patient. Acts as a resource and responds to calls, in-house emergencies in a professional and timely manner.
• Serves as a patient advocate and provides patient education and/or referrals for optimal outcome and continuity of care.
• Works collaboratively with others across team lines by demonstrating accountability as a team member.
• Performs other tasks, procedures, and/or duties within his/her scope of practice as assigned.
