Job summary

Cone Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for inpatient and outpatient specialty care in collaboration with physicians. The APP assesses patients, interprets tests, and develops treatment plans across multiple specialties (Cardiology, GI, General Surgery, Oncology, Infectious Disease, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, Pediatrics sub-specialties, and OB/GYN at ARMC and MC without L&D).

Responsibilities

• Performs physical assessments, reviews medical history, and interprets diagnostic tests/results to provide effective treatment.
• Conducts preventive health screenings based on patient age and history to provide proactive health care.
• Educates patients and families about specialty care conditions, treatment, and follow-up.
• Maintains record of all patient care to ensure accurate patient history.
• Performs specialty care procedures in accordance with guidelines in inpatient and outpatient care settings.
• Identifies ways to improve inpatient and outpatient specialty care by assessing, solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Advanced Practice Provider IP/OP Specialty Care provides specialized care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings in collaboration with physician(s). The APP assesses patients, interprets diagnostic test/results, and develops and implements treatment plans to address the patient's unique needs in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Inpatient/Outpatient Specialty Care includes Cardiology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Oncology, Infectious Disease, Plastic Surgery, Pulmonary, Orthopedics, Pediatric Sub-Specialty, Adolescent Medicine, Urology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Physical Medicine and Rehab, and Obstetrics & Gynecology (ARMC and MC without L&D).

Essential Job Function

• Performs physical assessments of the patient, reviews their medical history, and interprets diagnostic tests/results in order to provide effective treatment for the patient.
• Conducts preventive health screenings based on the patient's age, history, and unique needs to provide proactive health care.
• Educates patients and their family about specialty care medical conditions, treatment, and follow‑up.
• Maintains record of all patient care in order to ensure accurate patient history.
• Performs specialty care medical procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and clinical roles as necessary within inpatient and outpatient care settings.
• Identifies ways to improve inpatient and outpatient specialty care by assessing, problem‑solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Required: Master’s degree Nursing or Master’s degree Physician Assistant studies. Physician Assistant employed at Cone Health prior to October 14, 2024, with a Bachelor’s degree will have Master’s degree requirement waived provided they have maintained employment and PA licensure with Board Certification.

• Preferred: 3+ years

Licensure/Certification/Listing

• Required: Valid NC RN and Nurse Midwife or NP license OR NC PA license Board Certified within 1 year of date of hire by either the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PA's OR the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Certification Corporation (NCC) for NP's OR the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP) Certification required for Neonatal Advanced Practice Providers IVC Certified within 90 days of employment for Behavioral Health Advance Practice Provider Must possess and maintain a current, unrestricted DEA registration in accordance with fiscal and state regulations.
