Job summary

Seattle Children's is seeking an Infusion Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to lead direct patient care in our ambulatory infusion setting. The APP acts as a clinical conduit between the patient’s primary team and infusion staff, handling emergencies and ensuring high safety and care quality.

The role emphasizes collaboration, care coordination, and participation in research and quality improvement projects within a busy pediatric infusion program.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing with a pediatric or family NP concentration or PA program graduate.
• Minimum 1 year work experience in pediatric or family-focused clinical area.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient histories, perform exams, order/interpret tests, prescribe meds, and develop treatment plans.
• Respond to infusion-related emergencies and ensure patient safety.
• Coordinate care with primary team, consultants, and multidisciplinary staff.

Job description

The Infusion Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant—provides comprehensive direct care and assumes primary clinical management for a diverse patient population in our ambulatory infusion setting.

In this role, you will act as a critical clinical conduit, seamlessly bridging communication between the patient’s primary care team and the infusion nursing staff. You will also serve as the frontline responder for infusion-related emergencies, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care quality.

Shift Structure

10-hour shifts, scheduled Monday through Saturday.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Management: Obtain detailed patient histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Emergency Response: Rapidly assess and manage infusion-related emergencies, including allergic and adverse reactions.
• Care Coordination: Direct and participate in case management and continuing care. Collaborate, consult, and refer patients to department attending physicians, specialists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare team members.
• Specialized Procedures: Access chest ports for specialized procedures, including intraventricular infusions for patients with Batten’s disease.
• Quality & Innovation: Contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement (QI) projects.
• Education & Research: Participate in clinical research and educational initiatives for patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Patient Population

Our clinic serves a vast and rewarding mix of acuity levels and specialties, including:

• Oncology & Hematology: Patients undergoing cancer treatments and therapy for blood disorders.
• Specialty Services: Management of patients from Rheumatology, Gastroenterology (GI), and Cardiology.
• Neurology: Treatment for migraine patients and specialized rare-disease care (e.g., Batten’s disease).
• Advanced Therapeutics: Monoclonal antibody infusions for a wide variety of complex diseases.

Required Education and Experience

Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.

One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.

Required Credentials

For Nurse Practitioners:

• Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.
• Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner.

For Physician Assistants:

• Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington.
• Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

For All Providers:

• Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
• Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.
• Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.

Compensation Range

$116,723 - $171,667 per year

Note: This position is currently eligible for an off-shift premium of up to 3% which would increase the total compensation of this role by an additional $3,501.70 to $5,150.02 per year.

This position is eligible for relocation for qualified candidates.

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
