Job summary

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Infectious Disease inpatient consultation team. You will assess, manage, and coordinate care for pediatric patients, collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers growth within Transplant & Oncology and General Infectious Disease services, starting at 0.5 FTE with potential to increase. Requires GA APRN/PA licensure eligibility and pediatric experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• No minimum experience required.
• 2 years of pediatric healthcare experience preferred.
• Georgia APRN/PA licensure requirements and eligibility.
• Master's degree in nursing or higher; RN licensure in GA as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care management for children under supervision within a collaborative practice.
• Perform histories and physical exams, identify findings, and order/interpret tests.
• Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans and educate patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians and other health care providers; facilitate referrals as needed.
• Participate in education, professional development, and quality improvement activities.

Job Description

At Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, we provide treatment and follow-up care to children, teens, and young adults who have been diagnosed with a variety of conditions related to infectious diseases—and we’re on the forefront of leading research to develop new treatments and insights. We embrace collaboration among our pediatric specialists, and through this collaboration, we offer many multidisciplinary programs and clinics in which our providers participate.

Children's is actively recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider to work as part of our collaborative Infectious Disease inpatient consultation team. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to children and their families through assessment, communication, clinical management, collaboration, coordination, education, program development, research, self-evaluation, professional development, and system participation.

This position will initially be a benefitted 0.5 FTE with the possibility to increase the effort allocation in subsequent years to meet inpatient clinical needs in the growing Transplant & Oncology and General Infectious Disease services.

Experience

Certification Summary

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia OR Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the state of Georgia OR licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Georgia
• Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Program (AANP), Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), (Certification as Family Nurse Practitioner may be acceptable with CNO approval)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants working in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Anesthesia, Hematology/Oncology, and Critical Care (Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants working in Neonatology may provide NRP certification in lieu of PALS)

• Proficient knowledge of Georgia Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants, Joint Commission regulatory requirements and Credentialing process of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants

Job Responsibilities

Clinical

• Provide comprehensive patient care management within a collaborative practice model for children of all ages under the supervision of the supervising/collaborating physician within the scope of practice outlined by state statute and Children’s bylaws in the inpatient and/or ambulatory settings. This includes:
• Performing comprehensive histories and physical exams and identifying normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status
• Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests
• Developing pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans
• Serving as an educational resource for patients, families, health care professionals, and students
• Facilitating patient referrals to other medical providers, medical facilities, and other health/social service agencies as needed
• Collaborating and/or consulting with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate
