Job description

Overview

An Advanced Practice Provider III (APP III) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida or Georgia. The APP III provides patient care with advanced knowledge of subspecialty service. Clinical area: Subspecialty Outpatient and/or Inpatient Setting; may perform procedures/consults; less than 50% time spent in OR; and/or work in the NICU.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and appropriate referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services; respond to consults, schedule procedures, and handle discharge planning; educate and counsel patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance; may provide education and instruction to residents and students.
• Perform or assist with higher complexity procedures in clinic or inpatient units; monitor and manage invasive and/or medical devices and placement of devices within scope of practice; manage care of pre‑/post‑operative and pre‑/post‑procedural patients.
• Formulate comprehensive health management plans for high‑acuity, complex patients in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals to include progress notes, narrative discharge summaries, consults, etc.; facilitate patient participation in health‑care decisions.
• Enter pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines; document and close open encounters, MyChart messages, and other EMR communications in accordance with institutional requirements.
• Provide call coverage as required by departmental needs; perform expected performance and education duties; all other duties as assigned.
• Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests for patients with high levels of complexity; review, prescribe, and/or recommend medications and treatments.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements: 2 years in outpatient/inpatient setting.

Education: Master’s in Nurse Practitioner or Master’s in Physician Assistant Program required.

Travel: Up to 25%.

Certification/Licenses: Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner License required at time of hire; Physician Assistant License required at time of hire; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred; PALS Certified preferred.
