Job summary

Tampa General Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN/PA) for the Gastroenterology Service. The APP will provide general and GI specialty care, with opportunities for collaborative and independent practice within their scope.

The role emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic GI conditions, while supporting education of other professionals and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.
• Acute Care or Adult Gerontology Acute Care board certification required for APRNs.
• Experience in internal hospital medicine and GI diseases strongly preferred.
• Extremely motivated new graduates may be considered for the APP fellowship program.

Responsibilities

• Daily inpatient rounding and associated documentation.
• Consultations and evaluation of patients with GI disorders.
• Communicate with primary and multidisciplinary team to collaborate on management of complex GI patients.
• Participate in department and organizational performance improvement activities.
• Perform duties according to established procedures, protocols, and professional standards.
• Maintain protocol with supervising physician as required by state regulatory agencies.

JOB SUMMARY—Gastroenterology Service

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides general and specialty medical services to individuals, families and groups, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention as well as diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. The APP will have an opportunity for both collaborative and independent practice while practicing within their established scope. All TGH team members are responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values in accordance withTampa GeneralHospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES—Gastroenterology Service

• Daily inpatient rounding & associated documentation
• Consultations & evaluation of patients with GI disorders
• Communicate with primary & multidisciplinary team to collaborate on the management of complex patients with GI disorders

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise utilizing theory-based practice, infection control standards and clinical evaluations in providing care to clients in clinic or hospital-based settings, as evidenced by following established protocols.
• Experience with multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Outstanding customer service and conflict resolution abilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage clients' health care problems.
• Participates in department and organizational performance improvement activities such as development and revision of standards, protocols or critical pathways.
• Performs duties according to established procedures, protocols, and professional standards.
• Maintains protocol with supervising physician as required by state professional regulatory agencies.
• Requests, interprets and evaluates diagnostic and laboratory tests and takes appropriate actions as medically indicated in accordance with departmental protocols. Identifies and reports any specific signs and symptoms, problems or potential problems requiring further assessment, communication and/or intervention to promote positive outcomes.
• Promotes education of other professionals in developing skills and knowledge related to providing optimum health care.
• Demonstrate a profound commitment to compassion, care, and integrity in all interactions with patients, families, and our team
