Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Tacoma's St. Joseph Medical Center is seeking a Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join a multi-disciplinary team.

You will work 7:00pm–7:00am on the night shift, delivering high-acuity care with the VICU support and collaborating with physicians and other APPs. You will assess and manage complex patients, perform invasive procedures as needed, and contribute to a culture of clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current WA ARNP or PA license at start date.
• ACLS and DEA licensure required at start.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care during 7:00pm–7:00am shifts.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider, you will join our collegial healthcare team in Tacoma at St. Joseph Medical Center. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with Board Certified physicians and a growing cohort of APPs, supported by a mature and innovative virtual ICU (VICU) that provides real-time monitoring and support. This role involves comprehensive patient management, from assessment and diagnosis to developing and executing treatment plans, performing critical invasive procedures, and ensuring continuity of care. This unique opportunity offers the chance to deliver high-acuity critical care across five diverse hospital settings, ranging from community hospitals to a tertiary-care medical center with advanced services including Cardiothoracic Surgery and Neurosurgery, and a Level II Trauma Center. Every day you will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic well-being of patients and their families.

• Work schedule 7:00pm - 7:00am primarily with some day shifts

We are offering a guaranteed salary based on APP experience, a starting bonus, and relocation assistance. Retirement plans include both 401(k) and 457(b).

Job Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current Washington State ARNP or Physician Assistance license or have an active license prior to starting
• Washington license, ACLS, and DEA licensing required at the time of starting work
• Fundamentals of Critical Care Support and Palliative Academy in the first year of employment
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with physicians, and hospital staff, patients and their families
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism
• Strong commitment to patient care team concept and privacy guidelines

Preferred

• Ventilator management, central venous and arterial line placement, intubation and Point of Care Ultrasound preferred.
