Job summary

Columbia University’s Endovascular Center seeks a skilled Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) to join a team of cardiovascular specialists. The role includes clinic assessment, collaboration with physicians, and helping to expand patient volume and referrals.

You will educate patients, coordinate testing, manage pre/post care, and support cross-functional communications across CUIMC sites. A NY license and interventional cardiology experience are required; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's degree from an accredited PA program or a Master's in Nursing.
• Current New York State PA or NP license.
• Current PA/NP board certification.
• Eligible for BCLS, ACLS, DEA, and NPI certifications.
• Prior interventional cardiology experience.
• Wound care experience is preferred.
• Prior vascular medicine experience is desired.
• Bilingual (Spanish) helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform chart reviews prior to clinic days and create a patient summary.
• Examine patients, document history, and summarize each patient’s condition for the physician.
• Educate patients and families on conditions and treatment options including risks.
• Coordinate pre- and post-procedural testing with the Endovascular clinical coordinator.
• Review results of pre- and post-procedural testing and communicate results to patients, families, and referring physicians.
• Respond to patient and family inquiries.
• Assist patients in navigating through evaluation, procedure, and post-procedural follow-up.
• See both new patients and follow-up patients in the clinic and in other ambulatory settings.
• Address Telemed messages and inquiries from the front desk by the close of each day.
• Participate in weekly coordination of care meetings.
• Help to develop referral pathways and perform outreach to referring clinicians.
• Basic wound care.
• Round on inpatients as needed.
• Perform other activities as defined by patient need.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)) will join a team of endovascular specialists in a fast-growing Endovascular Center. The PA/NP will assess patients in clinic to evaluate cardiovascular disease and collaborate with physicians to implement the appropriate treatment plan. The PA/NP will also be instrumental in assisting to develop patient volume, educating potential referring doctors regarding the Center’s capabilities and providing in-service education to clinical providers and extenders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Master’s degree in Nursing, plus one to two years of related experience
• Current New York State PA or NP license
• Current PA or NP board certification
• Eligible for BCLS, ACLS, DEA, and NPI certifications
• Prior interventional cardiology experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Wound care experience is preferred.
• Prior vascular medicine experience is desired.
• Must be able to manage multiple cross-functional communications and process in a timely manner.
• Must have a high degree of professionalism in all communications.
• Experience in managing complex schedules.
• Bilingual (Spanish) helpful but not required.

Other Requirements

• Participation in Medical Surveillance Program:
  • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
  • Wear N-95 respirator
  • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Work with known infectious agents or biological toxins where prophylactic vaccination is available
• Must successfully complete compliance and system training requirements.
