Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care- MICU seeks a capable Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) to deliver specialized inpatient care at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. The APP will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to patient care, safety, research, and teaching.

Responsibilities include daily rounds, critical decision-making, and providing exceptional care for ICU patients.

Qualifications

• Inpatient, acute care, or critical care experience preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• DEA eligibility and active Wisconsin APRN or PA license.
• NCCPA certification or AGACNP board certification required

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with pulmonary/critical care team to manage ICU patients.
• Participate in daily rounds and present 24-hour patient reports.
• Provide comprehensive ICU care from admission through transfer.

Job description

The Medical College of Wisconsin's Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care- MICU is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) to provide specialty medical care within the Inpatient setting . This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital . The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Position Highlights

• Collaborate with pulmonary & critical care faculty in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including members of the teaching service
• Demonstrate strong clinical competence; critical decision-making; confidence in ability to assess, diagnose, & treat critically ill patients; and manage all aspects of care from admission to transfer from the critical care service
• Participate in daily rounds with the Attending Intensivist Physician team, presenting 24-hour patient report
• Provide exceptional care of Medical Intensive Care Unit patients

Schedule

• Full time, 1.0 fte
• 12-hour rotating day shifts with expectations for some weekends & holidays
• Also requires 2-3 overnight shifts per month, as well as flexibility w/ hours to provide for an appropriate level of patient care coverage

• Equipped with advanced critical care technology, including continuous hemodynamic monitoring, ECMO capabilities, and integrated EHR & tele-ICU systems
• Recently renovated critical care spaces designed for efficiency, safety, & family-centered care
• Exposure to a broad spectrum of critical illnesses-from septic shock to complex postoperative and transplant cases-providing rich clinical learning experiences

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Previous inpatient, acute care, & critical care APP or RN experience strongly preferred

Minimum Education

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization
• Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization
