Job summary

University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive care to patients on our In-patient Orthopaedic Service, specifically within the Spine Program. The role supports surgical patients and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team in an acute care hospital setting.

Eligible applicants include NP or PA with ARC-PA accreditation, Maryland licensure or active Nurse Practitioner certification in Acute Care, and NCCPA certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program; Bachelor's degree required OR a Master of Science degree with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
• New graduates are welcome to apply; experience is preferred but not required.
• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and current Maryland license, or registered with the Maryland Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of specialization.
• Must have CRNP - Acute Care or PA-C license.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients for health history and perform physical examination.
• Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
• Document H & P, progress notes, and treatment plans.
• Act as liaison between patients and physicians to coordinate recommended patient care as well as pre- and post-operative care.

Full Time

University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive care to patients presenting on our In-patient Orthopaedic Service.

The NP/PA performs examination, evaluation, assessment and interpretation of clinical data to provide care to the patients undergoing surgical treatment for bone fractures, degenerative joint diseases, osteomyelitis, and spinal procedures. Professional practice is in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team. Our Department of Orthopaedics serves as a referral center for patients in Maryland and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities
