Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Physician Assistant for our High Point Main Critical Care practice. The APP will contribute to patient care planning, work within a fast-paced clinical team, and perform required diagnostic procedures.

The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and learners, with opportunities to participate in research and precept students, while upholding our mission and values.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program; Master's degree preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a team-based clinical environment and perform diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Determine appropriate patient care plan using medical decision‑making skills.
  • Collaborate with the medical team for effective team-based care.
  • Order and interpret labs and diagnostics as needed.
  • Explain procedures, prep, and potential effects to patients.
  • Participate in research projects and precept learners when possible.

Education / Experience

Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, Master's degree preferred

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration

Current applicable state Medical Board Medical License Certified by NCCPA

Essential Functions

Using medical decision‑making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan. Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team‑based care. Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines. Opportunity to participate in basic science and clinical research projects. Potential for and encouraged to precept students and/or medical learners. Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
