Summary

The VA Fargo Healthcare System is recruiting (1) full-time Advanced Practice Nurse-Urology. The Urology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an important member of the urology team. The incumbent functions as an agent of the Urologist - providing patient care as an extender of the Supervising Physician's practice. As an agent of the Collaborating Physician - the NP functions within defined levels of autonomy as outlined in the scope of practice.


Duties


  • The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers

  • Duties include: Performing initial and follow-up history and physical examinations - screening outpatients and providing ongoing care - ordering diagnostic tests and consultations - accompanying Urologist on daily rounds of inpatients - writing discharge orders under the direction of the Urologist - providing education and counseling to patients and families - and performing urology treatment

  • The incumbent is responsible for entering accurate - complete - timely progress notes for each episode of care in the patient's electronic record

  • This is accomplished by utilizing the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • The incumbent is responsible for the proper use - maintenance - and calibration of specialized equipment used in the assessment and care of patients

  • The incumbent adheres to safety - health - and infection control standards - regulations and work practices - as well as ergonomic standards

  • The incumbent reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor and/or appropriate officials

  • The incumbent assists in orientation of new staff - and will provide patient and family education - including informed consent

  • The incumbent maintains supplies - equipment and clinical areas to optimize safety and efficiency

  • The incumbent demonstrates knowledge and maintains standards in the use and reprocessing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME)
