Responsibilities

• The APN works in the Student Wellness Center and manages straightforward to moderately complex medical problems and encourages health promotion and disease prevention.
• Conducts comprehensive physical examinations, gynecological or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans within clinical nursing practice and medical care protocols.
• Takes patient histories and conducts physical examinations; screens patients for hospital admission and makes referrals as indicated; writes progress notes and prepares patient workups.
• Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explains procedures to patients.
• Evaluates outcomes of care and initiates changes as needed.
• Participates in collaborative practice arrangements and maintains accountability for patient care decisions.
