The Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Nurse for the Primary Care Service Line at the VA Clinic Davenport, Iowa.

As an essential member of the interdisciplinary team, you will manage a patient panel with acute and chronic conditions, emphasize health promotion, develop individualized care plans, order and interpret labs, and provide education to patients and families within a Veteran-centered care approach.

Qualifications

  • Current Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license in Iowa
  • Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or similarly recognized specialty preferred
  • Active non-restricted RN license in Iowa and APRN scope of practice
  • BLS/ACLS certification and DEA registration preferred

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions focusing on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Develops and implements individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
  • Demonstrates leadership and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and initiates referrals to specialty services.
  • Provides education to patients and families and advocates for patient-centered care.

The Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is seeking a Full-Time, Advanced Practice Nurse for the Primary Care Service Line at the VA Clinic Davenport, Iowa.

Key Responsibilities

The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. Major duties and responsibilities of the position: Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management. Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.

Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services. Provides education to patients and their families. Assess and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Exemplifies the ICARE core values of-Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Work Schedule: Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Alternative work hours, if desired, should be agreed upon at the time of hire. Telework: Not available. EDRP Authorized: This position may be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
