Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) to support Barnegat/Lakewood cardiology services in Barnegat/Lakewood, NJ. The role spans inpatient and outpatient cardiac care with a day shift and salaried status.

The APP will perform evaluations, manage heart conditions, order tests, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff in a busy cardiac setting. Active state license, board certification, DEA and CDS, and ACLS/BLS required.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate in NP/PA from an accredited program.
• Active RN and APN/NP (ACNP or FNP) or PA-C license.
• Board certification in specialty/primary scope.
• Active DEA and CDS registrations.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Cardiology/critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform H&P, daily rounds, and design evidence-based treatment plans.
• Manage ACS, heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedural recovery.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests) and assist with devices/procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, fellows, nurses, and pharmacists.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation (Epic).

Position Details

• Cardiology Practice
• M-F 8-430pm
• Inpatient and Outpatient
• Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant PA in Cardiology provides clinical care to patients with acute and chronic heart conditions in hospital, critical care, or outpatient clinic settings
• Barnegat/Lakewood

Setting

• Inpatient cardiac care units, step-down, or hospital consults, outpatient cardiology clinics, or critical care CCU/ICU

Patient Evaluation & Management

• Perform detailed history and physical examinations, manage daily rounds, and design evidence-based treatment plans

Acute & Chronic Care

• Manage conditions such as acute coronary syndrome (ACS), heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, and post-procedural recovery

Diagnostics & Procedures

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests), and manage or assist with specialized cardiac devices/procedures (e,g, IABP, Impella, ECMO, or structural heart pathways depending on subspecialty)

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, fellows, nurses, pharmacists) and educate patients and families on long‑term cardiac health,

• Maintain accurate, timely records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic,

Qualifications & Requirements

• Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner NP or Physician Assistant PA program

Licensure & Certification
