Job summary

The advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Practitioner will serve in the Employee Occupational Health (EOH) Program, delivering comprehensive occupational health services across health promotion, health assessment, disease prevention, and management of work-related conditions.

The EOH APN will perform pre-placement exams, interval physicals, and treatment of occupational injuries, with emphasis on timely evaluation and prevention strategies in collaboration with the health care team.

Responsibilities

• Provide employee occupational health services including health promotion, assessment of health status, and evaluation and management of occupation-related illness and disease states.
• Perform pre-placement examinations and interval employee physicals.
• Evaluate and treat occupational injuries and illnesses; provide emergency treatment for work-related conditions.
• Advise employees on health concerns arising at work and oversee immunization programs.
• Monitor exposures to hazardous substances and contribute to surveillance activities.
• Collaborate with the Employee Occupational Health care team to promote health and disease prevention within the facility.

Summary

The advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Practitioner will practice in the Employee Occupational Health (EOH) Program providing employee occupational health services to include health promotion - assessment of health status - potential for disease development - and evaluation and management of occupation-associated illness and disease states.

Duties

• VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Employee Occupational Health (EOH) APN is responsible for providing employee occupational health services in accordance with VA Handbook 5019/6 - Part I - and will have administrative advice and assistance from the Human Resources Management Office
• Duties are included but not limited to: Pre-placement examinations
• Interval employee physicals
• Evaluation and treatment of occupational injuries
• Emergency treatment of illnesses that are potentially work-related
• Advise for employees who become sick at work
• Oversee the administration of appropriate immunizations
• Surveillance of employees with exposure or potential exposure to hazardous substances
• Other duties as assigned by the Primary Care Service Chief
• The EOH APN clinical practices in collaboration with the Employee Occupational Health care team - advocating for health promotion and disease prevention within the Facility
